The project was originally inspired by Damien Hirst’s 1988, student exhibition ‘Freeze’.  Particularly the group loyalty it inspired which lead to the YBA (Young British Artists) phenomenon. The exhibition project is designed to prepare the students for their final year degree show, equipping them will the wide range of skills required to put on such an event. The groups will exhibit work that has evolved over the autumn term.  In addition to producing an exhibition standard body of work, the students are required to source a venue, plan a private view, problem solve any health and safety issues that may arise and promote their show.

This year the students have sourced a variety of innovative sites in which to exhibit, from pop-up shops to basements. Exhibition groups from previous years have gone on to exhibit internationally.
